64-bit AMD64 (Opteron or Athlon 64) or Intel64 (Xeon 64, Core 2, Core i*, etc.) processors running Linux.

  • If your processor is an Intel64 or AMD64 processor with AVX2 support and your Linux OS is new enough (see below), use magma.avx2.exe.gz. You may also optionally download the LARGE version (magma.avx2.large.exe.gz) – see the V2.29 release notes for an explanation.
  • Since V2.30: for every other case of an Intel64/AMD64 processor which does not have AVX2 support or with an older Linux OS, use magma.gen.exe.gz.
  • NOTE: since V2.30, the executable has external references to shared libraries in the directory extern/ which MUST be installed in the same directory as the executable for that to work; that directory is included in the shared_complete.tar.gz (standard full setup).
  • Before V2.30: If your processor has AVX support, use magma.avx64.exe.gz; otherwise use magma.intel64.exe.gz (Intel CPUs) or magma.amd64.exe.gz (AMD CPUs).
  • Rename the downloaded executable to magma.exe after it is uncompressed.
