Magma is a large, well-supported software package designed to solve computationally hard problems in algebra, number theory, geometry and combinatorics. It provides a mathematically rigorous environment for computing with algebraic, number-theoretic, combinatoric, and geometric objects.

Latest version: V2.13-12 (released 2007-05-11)

Recent Notices:
May 5, 2007: The book Discovering Mathematics with Magma (Eds Bosma and Cannon) has now been published by Springer. This book presents 14 case studies of the application of Magma to problems in a variety of areas of mathematics. The Magma code appearing in this book is now available for download.
May 5, 2007: The Magma web site is undergoing a redesign. Every effort is being made to keep links functional during the transitional period.
April 20, 2007: Magma is now available for the Intel Mac under OS X. Initially, a 32-bit version is provided and it is hoped that a 64-bit version will follow in some months.
