Condensation is a method of studying the structure of modules over an algebra by transferring the structure to modules over a smaller algebra. In the best of circumstances one has an equivalence of the module categories for the two algebras. In the computational setting we usually settle for something less in the hopes of reducing a large calculation to a smaller one. In this lecture we will review some of the theory of condensation and propose a different form of condensation for implementation in the MAGMA system.
